Building Structure, Steel and concrete composite structure, Wooden hybrid structural system

Basic information

Wood, steel, and concrete are listed as construction materials in structural engineering. Each of these materials has its own structural advantages and disadvantages. It is important to consider the characteristics of the materials.
Our laboratories research new composite structures that combine various materials such as wood, steel, and concrete. We propose to replace reinforced concrete slabs with cross laminated timber floor panels to increase the use of timber in moderate- or large-scale buildings, and to develop a new structural column on steel-concrete composite structures. To investigate the seismic performance of the new structural systems, we try to carry out experimental and analytical work.
