A building consistsofa balance between shape (design)andstructure (dynamics). An impressive building always has both beautiful shapeandsuperb structuralsystem. We call a building having this balance “structural form”. This laboratory researches on the computational morphogenesis in architecture. Recently, we are studying the structural form from biological approach imitating an information transmission mechanismorlife-supportsystemof living beingandmorphogenesisofthe tension structure represented by the suspension membrane structure as well as the air membrane structure. We are also developing an analysis method for such structuralsystem.
